We spotted some time ago that MOO were running a little Christmas caption competition. Recently, they announced the winners over on the MOO blog and released a special pack of cards with all the winning captions which you can buy here.

Some people have no time for April Fools but for most it’s harmless fun. A selection of goodies cropped up across the internet including:

MOO announce their latest product: the MightyCard
Google and Virgin partnering to launch Mars mission Project Virgle
YouTube rickrolling all visitors to the front page
The Smosh boys claiming they were getting sued and selling merchandise to cover the cost
and finally Microsoft proposing to pay users not to use Yahoo

What’s the ‘Character’ of Your Web App?

Denise Wilton, creative director at MOO and co-founder of b3ta, made a fascinating keynote speech at a recent Oxford Geek Night. Her talk was titled ‘Designing a web app with character’ and if you are in the business of web apps then you really should watch the video and download the slides as they contain plenty of tips on how to make a web app lovely!

While we’re on the subject of the character of web apps, check out the following Intruders TV interview with Zopa co-founder James Alexander who tackles some tricky questions such as how to build up trust with users. He also encourages entrepreneurs to ask for help as there are lots of people out there offering support you. A lovely thought – and I think he’s quite right.

MOO is a printing company for the web 2.0 generation. They have become well-known for their neat little cards and stickers, not to mention cute little emails from their printing machines! They also have a chatty blog and a thriving Flickr community. They try to make sure that each touch-point that a customer has with the company is a lovely experience.
